Web Accessibility Statement
JackLynchtunnel.ie is currently finalising a complete re-design of its website platform, with the highest priority from the outset of the project being to achieve 100% accessibility for all our website visitors. That process is almost complete, and we are working hard to achieve 100% compliance as soon as possible. If you have any issues using this website, please let us know.
Egis Road & Tunnel Operation Ireland is committed to:
- Maintaining an accessible website.
- Ensuring that this website achieves “Level AA” conformance to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0, to comply with the National Disability Authority’s Code of Practice on Accessibility of Public Services and Information Provided by Public Bodies
- Ensuring that all new information on the website will achieve “Level AA” conformance to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0
- Including accessibility when we procure 3rd-party systems or upgrades to existing systems
The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) defines requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. Egis Road & Tunnel Operation Ireland is partially conformant with WCAG 2.0. The below table identifies the current areas of non-compliances.
We are in the process of improving the following elements of the website. The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reason(s): Duplicate landmark tag, i tag used to format text.
Non-compliance with national legislation:
|Issue||Explanation||Why this is important|
|“i” tag used to format text||The italics-tag ‘i’ is used for inserting icon||If the text should be emphasized semantically, the ’emphasize’ tag should be used, which helps with readability for screen readers|
|Duplicate WAI-ARIA landmarks||Menu contains two WAI-ARIA landmarks of the same type||Landmarks identify the primary content of the page and help with readability for screen readers.|
